Let's Make Things

Directing

While auditioning, I was always told I had a director's mind. While at times it was frustrating to be in my head, I've learned to appreciate the ability to see every detail and point it towards a common purpose. While I directed several short sketches, my first real stab at it was with Back to One, a pilot I produced with a dozen or so friends over two days. While we were too rushed to make the product I really wanted, it gave me vital insight into the process. A couple years later, and I've produced several pieces I'm proud of, most notably Uncle Gareth.

I am an actor's director; I approach every project with gratitude for the cast and crew that are giving their time to this vision, and I trust each and every one of them to do their job well. When it comes to getting the performance I need, I figure out how each actor works and how best to communicate with them. This is also why I like to be heavily involved with the casting process; from start to finish, I commit to finding the right people for the job and giving them the tools and instruction they need to tell the story we need told.
